ANDREW PARSEGIAN
What better way to ride out the covid-19 restrictions than making music? It's demanding, yet so rewarding. For over 19 years, I've taught students from all over the world, from age 5 to 85. My main approach to teaching guitar, bass, piano, and composition, is to keep lessons focused and satisfying. I work to establish fundamental technique and basic music theory, while emphasizing each student’s specific musical goals and favorite styles, songs, and compositions. We laugh a lot, work hard, and make great music.
A little more about me: In addition to teaching, I work as music producer, composer, band leader, keyboard player, audio mixer, and sound designer at The Hoop Studios. I've performed at Carnegie Hall, toured nationally with major label and Grammy-winning artists, and worked on award-winning films (including a Sundance festival finalist), plays, art exhibits, and singer/songwriters' records. A recent highlight was performing with Sir Paul McCartney last fall.
I have been fortunate to study with many great piano teachers, including Edna Golandsky of Juilliard, Clive Swansbourne of Indiana University, and master classes with jazz artist Keith Jarrett, among others. In addition to private music students, I've taught individual and group classes at many area schools including the 92nd Street Y, Greenwich House Music School, The Children's Aid Society, Beyond Rock, Come Join the Band, and Omega Center in Rhinebeck NY.
